My paintings explore abstraction and ideas generated by observation of science in nature. Bird and plant patterning, color temperature shifts, changing light, and fluid motion in nature have been very influencial in the work I have produced since July 2015. Thinking about and expressing the physics of light is present in my most recent work created this fall 2016.

In the studio, I instigate chance encounters with materials in order to work deeply with the intuitive part of my brain. I describe my process as a two-edged meandering that simultaneously requires thought and design while pursuing absence of control in execution. I pursue paintings that draw from the unpredictable compositions of nature.
